Yasir’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and arbitration, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

He represents and advises clients across the energy, telecommunications, banking and maritime sectors on high-value disputes, governance matters, regulatory risk and engagements with regulatory authorities.

Yasir is recognised for his distinctive combination of analytical rigour, innovative thinking and a commercially focused, solutions-oriented approach.

He combines precise legal analysis with a practical understanding of clients’ business objectives, enabling him to develop clear, strategic and effective solutions to high-stakes disputes and regulatory challenges.

Representative Experience

• Representing a leading energy company in a US$8.3 billion environmental and community-related claim before a State High Court involving oil spill allegations, environmental liability issues, jurisdictional objections, and high-value damages exposure.

• Acting for a leading telecommunications company in a class action involving alleged breaches of data protection and telecommunications service obligations, with aggregate claims of approximately ₦500 billion.

• Representing a leading energy company in a ₦50 billion oil spill litigation before the Federal High Court, successfully advancing jurisdictional objections and preliminary challenges to the competence of the proceedings.

• Acting in ad hoc arbitration proceedings arising from a commercial lease dispute involving enforceability of lease obligations, with an aggregate claim and counterclaim of approximately ₦32 billion.

• Acting in proceedings seeking to set aside a final arbitral award arising from a maritime time-charterparty dispute involving claims of approximately US$8.9 million, ₦121.6 million, and £10,200.
