Biography

Abasiemediong Etuk, MCArb is a Senior Associate in the Firm’s dispute resolution, corporate governance and banking and Finance practice. Her practice focuses on representing National and International Oil Companies, top-tier financial institutions, telecommunications and other multinational corporations in complex domestic and cross-border disputes.

Abasiemediong is recognised for her strategic approach to resolving complex conflicts. She currently coordinates the firm’s Corporate Governance and Regulatory Compliance Unit, advising boards within Nigeria’s multi-sectoral regulatory landscape and internationally.

Representative Experience

• Oil & Gas Service Breach: Handled a multi-million-dollar arbitration between two leading oil servicing companies regarding a breach of contract with a claim value of USD 30,000,000.

• Represented an IOC in a circa NGN 33,000,000,000 dispute arising from a Land Use Regulation Fee between the Client and the State Government.

• Escrow & Property Litigation: Represented a premier financial institution in a property dispute involving escrow agency complexities, with claims exceeding USD 11,818,181.

• EPC and E&P Advisory: Currently advising on a USD 7,000,000 arbitration involving contractual disputes between an IOC and an oil and gas engineering firm.

• Conducted board evaluation exercises for several leading national and international organisations across diverse sectors, including a state oil corporation, which involved assessing board composition and dynamics, evaluating each director’s contribution to board performance, reviewing committee structures and decision-making processes, and assessing the alignment of board-level decisions with the company’s strategic goals.
