Biography
Dede Ikeazor-Akaraiwe is an associate in the Firm's Dispute Resolution and Advisory practice. He acts for corporates, financial institutions, and multinationals in high-value commercial litigation and regulatory advisory mandates, with a particular focus on the energy, telecommunications, and banking sectors.
Dede brings a commercially grounded approach to contentious and non-contentious work, combining rigorous legal analysis with an understanding of the commercial and regulatory environments in which his clients operate.
On the disputes side, he has represented clients before the Federal High Court, the National Industrial Court, and the Investments and Securities Tribunal in matters spanning environmental liability, employment disputes, securities fraud, and jurisdictional challenges.
His advisory practice spans regulatory compliance, transaction risk, and sector-specific mandates, with particular experience in matters arising under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 and the Investment and Securities Act 2025.
Representative Experience
• Securing a favourable judgment striking out a ₦100 million suit against Nigeria's largest telecommunications company on jurisdictional grounds.
• Acting in a multi-billion naira share fraud dispute before the Investments and Securities Tribunal, involving the allegedly forged transfer of hundreds of millions of units of shares across three institutional defendants.
• Representing a foreign upstream oil and gas operator in employment litigation before the National Industrial Court, advising on employer identity, corporate affiliation, contractual privity, and jurisdictional objections.
• Advising a client on jurisdictional and governance challenges arising from a suit seeking to compel participation in a Host Community Development Trust under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, before the Federal High Court, Uyo.
• Advising a multinational investor on restructuring a cross-border infrastructure contract with a sovereign investment authority, resulting in a reduction in tax liabilities.
