Biography
Divine Oguru is a Senior Associate in the firm’s dispute resolution practice. He represents corporations and public institutions in commercial litigation, labour and employment disputes, fundamental rights enforcement proceedings, constitutional and administrative disputes, data privacy litigation, gaming and lottery disputes, etc.
Divine has over a decade of experience in providing strategic legal representation to clients in complex legal disputes, consistently upholding the highest ethical and professional standards in achieving client satisfaction. He is equipped with strong analytical and negotiation skills, which he deploys in delivering results-driven solutions to clients.
Divine is a member of the Society for Notaries Public, and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK.
Representative Experience
• Successfully defending an international social media corporation in commercial litigations and data privacy litigations and saved the company hundreds of millions.
• Representing a multinational transportation service provider in the amicable settlement of a claim against the company for injuries suffered by a user from an accident in Nigeria.
• Successfully defending two oil companies in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector in a suit filed by a major player in the industry.
• Representing a major non-governmental organisation involved in civil rights campaigns in Nigeria in a suit filed by a state-owned entity claiming millions of naira for defamation.
• Playing key roles in the successful defence of the electoral victories of some political office holders, both in executive and legislative positions.
