What happens when the pages of a book become a bridge between people, ideas, and lived experiences?
On Thursday, August 27, 2026, KENNA, in partnership with AIFA Reading Society and CELSIR, hosted Bridging Gaps with Pages: A Special Book Reading with the Women of Kirikiri at the Female Custodial Facility, Kirikiri. This impactful initiative reflects KENNA’s continued commitment to community engagement and access to justice.
The session centred on Conflict of Interest, a law thriller by Michael Oyinloye, and brought together 72 participants. The author was present and participated actively in the conversation, answering questions and providing insights into the story, its themes, and the inspiration behind the book. The session explored themes of justice, integrity, accountability, personal choices, and hope, encouraging participants to reflect on how these themes connect with their own experiences and perspectives.
The atmosphere was brought to life through spoken word performances, singing, and creative expressions. AIFA Programme Officer, Chinazom, led participants through an exciting games session, creating moments of laughter and friendly competition. The programme also featured a short personal development session facilitated by Ms. Yetunde Daramola, focusing on personal growth and self-development.
Through initiatives like this, KENNA continues to use the power of books and reading to create spaces for connection, learning, and self-expression, even in places where such opportunities may be limited.
