In commemoration of this year's International Human Rights Day, 10 December 2025, the firm hosted a Stakeholders Dialogue in collaboration with the Centre for Legal Support and Inmate Rehabilitation (CELSIR) in Lagos, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s commitment to human dignity, fair hearing, and a people-centred justice system. The participants cut across the justice sector, including members of the judiciary, policymakers, legal practitioners, prosecuting authorities, representatives of the Nigerian Correctional Services, civil society organisations, academia, and individuals with lived experience of the criminal justice system. H Oshodi, in his goodwill message pointed out that many of the system’s challenges arise from administrative shortcomings on the side of prosecuting authorities, noting that more resources should be focused on improving compliance with legal provisions on the part of administrators and prosecuting authorities. KENNA Associate, Oluwapelumi Ikujenyo moderated the event, themed: "Reclaiming Dignity: Advancing Fair Hearing and a People-Centered Justice System in Nigeria," while KENNA Senior Associate, Qudus Adeoye led a session on "Beyond Incarceration: Securing Restorative Justice and Economic Rights for Victims.", advocating for greater institutional receptiveness to restorative justice, highlighting its role in including victims and serving as a social mechanism to address growing prison congestion and recidivism.
Ms Adeshina, Director of Sustainability at KENNA, stated that the gathering reinforced a shared commitment to building a justice system that upholds dignity, fairness, and equal access for all.
