Overview
Introduction The emergence of agent banking in Nigeria is an innovation of financial institutions (Fis) to ensure the financial inclusion of customers in semi-urban and rural communities. It is a model designed to extend banking services to semi-urban and rural areas that may have been excluded from the coverage of conventional banking. By its definition, agent banking is the provision of financial services to customers by a third party (Agent) on behalf of a licensed deposit-taking Financial institution (Principal).
