Overview
The Principal Partner, Professor Fabian Ajogwu, SAN gave the Opening Remarks at the 2017 Annual Arbitration Conference in his capacity as the Vice President/General Secretary of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICArb). The conference took place on the 22nd of June at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
This year’s theme was ‘Enhancing Foreign Direct Investments through Arbitration and ADR’ with the discourse focusing on the ease of doing business in Nigeria from the access to justice perspective, particularly as regards the speedy and effective resolution of commercial disputes in Nigeria has become a major topical issue amongst key stakeholders.
There were many distinguished guests in attendance, including Hon. Justice Olufunmilayo O. Atilade, Chief Judge of Lagos State, Mallam Abubakar Malami, Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice and Mr. Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, SAN, President, Nigerian Bar Association.
